I'm Siobhán, a staff writer on the foreign desk at The Washington Post. Since joining the Post in 2018, I have reported from Cameroon, Afghanistan, Lebanon and elsewhere.

I previously freelanced across Africa and worked as a staff writer at Foreign Policy magazine. My work has also appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, Huck and other outlets.

A number of my projects have been funded by generous grants from the International Reporting Project and from the International Women's Media Foundation. I speak fluent French but my name is Irish and it's pronounced Sha-VON.
